Health Insurance FAQ’s
How much does Health Insurance cost?
The great thing about Health Insurance is that most policies can be flexible to your budget, and many companies will offer ways to help you manage your costs depending on your level of cover, excess, age, and choice of hospitals. And many providers will offer deals that extend to your family, such as your spouse or children.
How does Health Insurance work?
Health Insurance is designed to cover the costs of private medical treatment, either completely or partially (depending on your policy). You will pay a monthly premium, which will vary depending on the level of cover you’re looking for, and the amount of excess you’re willing to pay.
How do I make a Health Insurance claim?
Go to your GP with any concerns relating illness or injury as you normally would, and inform them that you have Health Insurance. Your GP will then refer you to a specialist if appropriate, at which time you should speak with your insurer to check that they’ll cover the treatment. Once approved, you can progress with the claim for private investigation and/or treatment, and in most cases your insurer will cover the costs directly.
Can I claim on my Health Insurance while I’m abroad?
Unfortunately not, UK Health Insurance doesn’t work like travel insurance, so it won’t cover treatment overseas.
